APPLICATIONS

  • Adobe Creative Suite: The standard in Design softare for Print and Web.
    Generally includes; Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, Bridge, Dreamweaver and Flash. Packages vary per industry.
  • Fetch: FTP software for transferring files.
  • MacFreelance: Job tracking and billing software. With a price tag under $50, this is a powerful application. Takes a little time to get your clients and charges set up, but after intial set up, entering time and creating invoices is a breeze. Also has some limited reporting functions.
  • FREE Office alternative: NeoOffice is a fully-featured set of office applications (including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and drawing programs) for Mac OS X. Unlike the Mac OS X release of OpenOffice.org, NeoOffice does not require the X11 windowing system.

 

ONLINE Calendar service

  • Google: If you have never used an online calendar service, this is a great one and the price is right. Share calendars with family and friends and subscribe to others calendars as well. Sign up for a free gmail account and then log in and click the calendar link in the upper left corner
  • Famundo: Lesser known that Google, but has gotten some good reviews for helping families and organizations connect.

 

WEB PUBLISHING SYSTEMS

  • Squarespace: This site was built using squarespace, easy to set up and maintain with user friendly reporting
  • Expression Engine:  Another flexible web publishing tool

Fax service

  • MyFax: This service is subscription based, around $10 per month. If you work outside a typical office setting, or just want to be able to see your faxes while you are on the go, this service gives you a number and allows you to send and receive faxes directly on your computer.
